New Blog Feature Added!

September 13, 2009

Marketplace has added a new feature – company blogs. The company blog was added to Marketplace 6’s Strategic Corporate Management level.  It was also incorporated into all of the Marketplace Live game levels.

The company blog is a team’s platform for telling the world who they are and to share their personalized story of their company.  They can brag about their accomplishments, tease a competitor or share an opinion.  They can also share pictures – individual photos or a team photo.  These pictures will help the instructor get to know everyone better, plus it will help the competition to put a face with a name.

The team is also encouraged to design and share a logo – something that is distinctive to their company, target markets and/or strategy.

The company blog can be used to post documents.  Documents marked as “private” can only be read by the team members. “Public” documents can be posted for the entire industry to read.

We hope that each team finds that the company blog feature adds a personal touch and some fun to their participation in the Marketplace simulation.  Enjoy.

September 1, 2009

ILS has released the Marketplace Live – Business Fundamentals (“Play Against Computer”) version in beta today. This version will be available in beta through December 31, 2009.

The Business Fundamentals simulation is targeted toward the introductory course in business. As the name suggests, it covers all the fundamentals of business, including marketing, distribution, human resources, manufacturing, finance and accounting. It hits upon the essence of each discipline without getting bogged down in the details.

Business Fundamentals will give students a taste of business, something to excite them about choosing business as a major. Because the simulation is highly integrated, it provides an ideal platform from which instructors can discuss and illustrate the fundamentals of business.
